School Meals and Prices

UNIVERSAL FREE SCHOOL MEALS

 

From September 2014 there is a statutory requirement for all state funded schools in England to provide free school meals to all pupils in Foundation, Year One and Year Two.

 

Parents/carers are required to register their child for school dinners.  Even if parents/carers intend to give their child a packed lunch we would advise them to register for school dinners so that they can have a dinner on occasions (eg Christmas)  without any further administration.

 

We are also asking all parents/carers to fill in a Free School Meals and Pupil Premium registration form. This will enable us to register pupils who attract pupil premium.  Pupil premium funding is worth £1320 a year per pupil for our school.

 

This additional funding is available from central government for every child whose parent is receiving one of the welfare benefits listed below:

 

  • Income Support

  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

  • Support from NASS (National Asylum Support Service) under part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

  • The guarantee element of State Pension Credit

  • Child tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190

  • Working Tax Credit run-on

  • Universal Credit

 

The information you provide will be used by the council to confirm receipt of one of the listed welfare benefits and our school will then receive the additional funding.

 

We believe that the school lunchtime is a great opportunity for all our children to sit down together and enjoy their healthy and tasty meal, whilst developing their social skills.
